Two Gloucester veterans were recently honored at the Statehouse for years of military service and dedication to other North Shore veterans.
Mark Nestor and Brendan Chipperini were two of 136 veterans honored during the second annual Military Appreciation Day Ceremony held at the Statehouse June 10, which was established to recognize veterans, active duty service members, families, reservists and National Guard members. During the ceremony both Nestor and Chipperini were given official citations from the governor, Senate and House of Representatives and a challenge coin.
State lawmakers have the ability to nominate members of their respective districts for the award and Chipperini was nominated by 5th Essex Rep. Dru Tarr, D-Gloucester, while Nestor was nominated by Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester.
